CU vs. Kansas

October 27th, 2011 Comments off

I have yet to watch a CU vs. Kansas basketball game, but I really want to.  They’ve got to have the best basketball rivalry I’ve ever seen!  Whenever I can, I watch them on TV, but once I get enough money to move out on my own, I’m going to buy Boulder Colorado real estate someday soon.

Boulder is the coolest place on earth. Once I move there, I’ll go to every CU game I can get into!

In the Holding Pattern, Again

October 27th, 2011 Comments off

This was a pretty quiet day, since I am recovering from a recent surgery, and since I have a lot to do around the house. Combined, the two circumstances keep me fairly well housebound for now.  Also, I spent a lot of time today preparing to move, which I am planning to do around the end of the year. Largely this involved processing digital pictures of some items I am getting ready to sell online. I made worthwhile progress on that large project. Aside from that, I wasn’t in a very energetic or creative mood, but fortunately, I have a lot of foodstuffs on hand at the moment that quite easily make into meals and snacks. So by focusing on the simple tasks of processing pictures, fixing food, doing some dishes, and listening to the radio a bit, I spent most of the day shuttling between the office and the kitchen.

The Greatest Game Ever

October 26th, 2011 Comments off

The greatest game that was ever played was in 1966 where UTEP played. but before it was called Texas Western College. it was the game where it broke the color barrier and now African Americans can play with others and everyone as well. Coach Don Haskins replaced all of the white players with the African Americans in the starting five and it was the first time that that has ever happen at that time. it was bad time bad then where the African Americans were constantly threatened by whites and everyone who did not want the change mad want it to stay the way it was and it took their spot on the team. they played against an all white Kentucky team. the Texas western team defeated them in the championship game. they then made that into a movie called glory road and it is a good movie as well. if it were not for this game, many different countries would not be able to participate in basketball.

A great Steak Dinner

October 26th, 2011 Comments off

Tonight my fiancé and I had a filet mingnon dinner at our Boulder home. We made it on the grill and seasoned it with Monterrey dry rub. We also had baked potato’s, garlic bread, salad and French style green beans. It all was so delicious and special because we never make this at home but it is our favorite meal. It was a lot cheaper than going out to a restaurant and was more personal too. We had some candles lit and the table set with our fine china it was a very romantic setting and we had a chance to reconnect for a little while and get away from our hectic day’s.

Which national real estate broker do you think is the best real estate company to work for?

September 11th, 2011 No comments

I’m curious to hear from real estate agents and brokers on reasons why you like your real estate brokerage company. Why do you think your broker is the best real estate company to work for? Are there any things you would change about your broker if you could? Are you happy with the fees you are charged and your commission splits? I’m wondering what broker offers the highest commission splits for agents with the lowest fees with the most amount of training, support, and resources.

Room Sharing Made (Sort Of) Easy

September 8th, 2011 Comments off

It’s a problem many families face. You bring home your second (or third, or eighth) little newcomer and suddenly realize–you have more family than house! Moving is rarely the logical solution, especially for young families. Instead, it’s time to turn siblings into roommates. Here’s how to maximize space and minimize conflict.

Of course, if your children are young, sharing rooms will probably seem like an adventure, and will seem perfectly natural as they grow up together. However, for older children, giving up personal space can be a sacrifice. Allow them to have some separate areas. Divide the closet, and allow each to have his or her own bureau drawers (rather than, for example, dividing the drawers by clothing type). And while it might not be feasible, space-wise, to have two or more toy boxes in one room, you can help your children separate special toys from the general pile by using stackable bins or a toy shelf, rather than a large box or tub. In choosing room décor, try to accommodate each child’s tastes, but when this is not always possible, use the opportunity to teach a lesson in compromise. One child can choose the wall color, and another the curtains, for example, and they can each choose their own bedding. Large, removable wall stickers let children celebrate their interests, and then change them as they grow–without damaging your walls! One wall can be devoted to Thomas, and the other to dinosaurs, or princesses and horses, and the case may be.

And speaking of beds…. Older children may prefer to have separate beds and divide the space with a screen or curtain. Younger children, however, gain floor, sitting, and sleeping space with a daybed trundle bed. Hillsdale furniture has a number of quality-built, affordable models to choose from, from delicate, wrought-iron models to match any daughter’s daydream, to sturdy, wooden sets built to stand up to years of rough-housing boys.

Sharing a room can be difficult at times. When your favorite sweater disappears, for example, or one wants to race cars while the other wants to work a floor puzzle. But sharing rooms also leads to sharing chores, toys, stories, and secrets–the kind of sharing that makes siblings (eventually) the best of friends.
