Glorious Week in Iowa

Last week was a very special week for me. Iowa in July is usually in the hot and humid 90 degree range. Blistering heat normally, but not last week. Last week, we enjoyed the cool 80 degree weather with no humidity. Perfect for the Ragbrai (Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride across Iowa) riders in the state. I did not ride in this year’s ride… instead I chose to spend my week’s vacation in my backyard tending to my flower and vegetable garden. The cooler weather and sunny days provided a backdrop for lazy days spent in a hammock snoozing and reading a book on the patio after a couple hours of meditation that I like to do while pulling weeds from the flower garden. What could be more relaxing than that? I can assure you it was exactly what I needed. If only there was another week in store for me of just such a week… but no, back to the grind of work this week and just the memories of those cool breezes blowing across my face.
